Taylor Swift’s Grammys collection has continued to grow year by year since her first nomination for the Best New Artist award at the 50th edition of the gala in 2008. On that occasion, she missed out to Amy Winehouse, who picked up five awards on the night (Michael Jackson and Carlos Santana jointly share the record, taking home eight each in 1984 and 2000 respectively). She was one of the presenters on the night though, handing over the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award to Juanes.
A year later at the 51st edition, she didn’t feature among the nominees but made her first appearance as a performer. Acoustic guitar in hand, a teenage Taylor took the stage at the Staples Center to treat the audience to Fifteen, a cut off her second studio album, Fearless. On stage, she was joined by Miley Cyrus, who took over vocal duties on the chorus. As she explained to CBS, “We actually pitched it to the Grammys and they were like, ‘Well we’re really into collaborations’. Our personalities are opposites so it works”.
Taylor has performed at seven Grammy ceremonies - her last appearance was in 2021 when she was joined on stage by Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner and performed two songs. She made history that night by becoming the first woman to win the Grammy for Album Of The Year three times (Fearless - 2009, 1989 - 2015 and Folklore - 2020). And on Sunday night she made it an incredible four with Midnights.
In total, Taylor has been nominated for 58 Grammy awards and won 14. In the all-time honors list for female artists, she’s quickly climbing up the ranking, with the likes of Aretha Franklin (18), Alison Krauss (27) and Beyoncé (32) still some way ahead.
When is Taylor Swift’s new album coming out?
As well as thanking all those she could when receiving her award, while fans of the singer were anticipating Swift to announce “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” Taylor actually announced on stage that she will be releasing her eleventh studio album titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” set to debut on 19 April.
“This is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number; I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that. So, I want to thank the fans by sharing a secret I’ve been hiding for the past two years, and that is that my new album is coming out on April 19,” the star announced while receiving her award.
