I have loved my experience with IUPUI, finding a community. I already lived in the area, but IUPUI was different from broader Indianapolis. While the academics are great, they're changing a lot now with the separation of IU and Purdue. I absolutely love the communities I've been able to join here!

At IUPUI, the professors do really want to help you but you have to go after them in order to get the help. Yes, there are some help centres for math and chemistry, but you might want to look into the Bepko Learning Centre for one-on-one tutoring that is free to you! It's a great help and trust me you are going to need it. The only change I would like to see is more representation for other cultures. I've seen a lot of black representation and that's great, but what about the Indian culture? The Korean Culture? The Islanders? More representation for those people. Plus, a change in the food would be nice as well. More choices for vegans and other diets.

I really enjoyed the campus life at IUPUI. Being a commuter, it was challenging to make long lasting friendships. I joined a sorority my freshman year and became so involved on campus! Joining allowed me to make friends, help out the community with community service, and allowed me to develop tons of leadership skills. I would love to see more events that are ran by the school, along with more safety procedures. I was never spoken to about what-if scenarios (like where to go if there was a fire, a shooting, or server weather). I also wish the library and campus center had more security. Homeless people sleep and hangout in a space that's for college students, it made me uncomfortable staying on campus after dark. Also, the advisors seem to be hands off. I wish they would build a relationship with their students and make them feel welcome. I never felt like they had my back and saw it as a job, nothing more.
