1. Pak Choy Green

Pak Choy Green is one of the easy seeds to sprout. They have a high germination rate, and they germinate in 2-3 days after sowing. They are tolerant to high humidity environment. Another great thing about Pak Choy Green is that it is fast growing too. The harvest period is about 6-8 weeks (40-60 days) after seeds have germinated, depending on the local weather, care and fertilisers applied.

3. Long Bean (Kacang Panjang)

Long Beans is a common vegetable that is consumed by many Malaysians and they can be eaten either raw or cooked. Many farmers prefer to plant Long Beans as it is tolerant to extreme weather. If you plan to grow Long Beans in your backyard, be sure to install a trellis to support this climbing plant. Long beans can be harvested about 10 weeks (65-70 days) after planting.

4. Okra (Bendi)

Okra seeds germinate in 3-4 days time and an Okra plant has a lifespan of 6 months. The height of this plant can reach up to 2 meters. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you have adequate space prior to planting Okra. It is a nutritious food with many health benefits. It is rich in magnesium, fibre, antioxidants, and vitamins C, K1, and A. There are many ways you can eat Okra - raw, steamed, baked or fried. You can also dehydrate cut okra and they make a very good and healthy snack.

5. Sweet Corn (Jagung Manis)

Corn plant has a lifespan of 80-150 days. There are many varieties available. The two popular ones are Sweet Corn and Sweet Corn Bicolor. Since it is an annual crop, it can only be harvested once, and the plant should be cut after harvest. You can grow your corn in pots or on flat land without raising bed but take not that the height can reach up to 2.5 meters. One plant with adequate growing conditions is able to produce between two and four ears of corn. Don't be surprised if you find pink corn seeds. The colour indicates that the seeds have been treated with a fungicide. The use of a fungicide is crucial to prevent the seeds from any fungal infection.

6. Pumpkin (Labu)

Pumpkin seeds grow well with high waterlog soils. Please ensure that you use well-drainage soil while planting pumpkin. Try using Serbajadi BiocharSoil Mix 2. Growing pumpkins require space and they creep very fast. Good maintenance is required for a good yield. It is also recommended that you install a trellis for easy growing and harvesting. One pumpkin plant can bear 5-6 fruits in about 90 days from sowing.
