We are excited to begin casting for another amazing season of The Voice! Since all casting for the Voice will be done through Video Submissions or Virtual Open Calls, we wanted to give you some tips to create your best video audition!

These are tips you should follow when recording a video audition for a Video Submission and/or participating in one of the Virtual Open Call Auditions. If you're planning to audition for a Virtual Open Call, make sure you also read the Virtual Open Call Guidelines.

Please record in a clean & clear location (e.g., no dirty dishes, laundry, or unmade beds behind you). Your roommate or family member should NOT be on the couch eating chips or watching TV while you are recording your audition. Make sure you are well-lit, especially on your face (lamps or natural light work best).

How much does it cost to be on The Voice? ›

There is no cost to participate in The Voice. Contestants are not required to pay any fees to audition or compete on the show. The production covers expenses related to auditions, coaching, rehearsals, and performances, as well as travel and accommodation for contestants during the competition.

Does The Voice pay for travel? ›

If you're selected as a contestant, be ready to travel to one or more locations and stay there for several weeks or months during the filming of the show. If you're selected as a finalist or a competitor, the producer of the show will pay for your travel and lodging expenses.

Does The Voice pay for housing? ›

While singers don't make a paycheck from performing on The Voice, they are given a huge platform, free publicity and celebrity access to grow their music careers. But they are given stipends. Contestants who make it far into the season are given stipends to cover living expenses.

During the blind auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the artists perform, but they don't get to see them -- thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist's voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team.

Do The Voice contestants get free clothes? ›

Contestants have to supply their own clothes for the blind auditions, but things get a little easier once they are attached to a team. Morrissey shared, “We shop for each artist to come up with great looks. Once we get to the live shows, looks are customized for each specific performance.”
