Peter Kay's Car Share is a British sitcom set around supermarket assistant manager John Redmond (Peter Kay) and promotions rep Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson), and their participation in a company car-sharing scheme.

The Bafta-winning comedian will also open Manchester's Co-Op Live on April 23, 2024, where he will perform for two nights, confirming that Peter Kay's Car Share won't be back any time soon. The popular sitcom premiered on BBC One in April, 2015, meeting great success with TV fans.

In the episodes final shot, John and Kayleigh were shown holding hands on a bus as they listened to music together – appearing to confirm they had become a couple. Their path to bus romance however was a treacherous/hilarious one, as John stopped the car in the middle of the road so Kayleigh could save a hedgehog.

And it was Monday's finale that gave the fans what they wanted, as John finally let his guard down to let friendship flourish into love. Or at least to let Kayleigh hold his hand on the bus - well, it's a start. The show's writer tweeted that he was glad to have given the public a happy ending.

The Bolton-born comic has shocked fans with his dramatic weight loss over the last year and even referenced it during the Manchester comeback show.

Both Peter and his co-star Sian Gibson recently chatted with the BBC about the potentially risky decision to film an entire episode with no pre-written storyline, and certainly made it sound like Car Share Unscripted was a blast to make.

The show, about supermarket colleagues John Redmond and Kayleigh Kitson who found themselves travelling into work together as part of a work car share scheme, is filmed in and around Greater Manchester including Phoenix Nights comedian Peter's home town Bolton.
