The Boy and His Mother
Ron was a 12-year-old boy who lives with his mother and father. He was happy with his life going to school and playing with friends. He threws tantrums like any other kid of his age. His mother was a homemaker. She did not complain about her tantrums and considered them normal.
Ron was happy as his school had declared holidays for five consecutive days. It was a streak of national holidays, the government announced. His father and mother were also happy. After a long period, they got time to relax and go on a vacation.
His mother and father took Ron to a nearby beach, had a great dinner in a big hotel and watched a movie. Two days passed with so much enjoyment and peace.
The Boy’s Bill for Service to Mother
Three days were left. Ron’s mother decided to clean the house. It was a good time when his father could also lend a hand. She would then be able to clean the house properly with everyone’s help.
She asked Ron, “Will you help with the cleaning?” Ron agreed and did his best. He dusted the furniture, cut the grass on the lawn, watered the plants, went shopping to buy groceries with a list his mother prepared and helped his mother to dry clothes.

His mother was stunned to see Ron helping her so much. All the duties assigned were executed with utmost care. She was impressed that Ron was learning to be a part of the family. She was happy that he was growing up to become a mature person.
Ron was scribbling on a piece of paper. Her mother fondled his hair. He handed a note to her mother. She could not look at the note as she was busy making food.
When she was done, she saw the note and was surprised. It mentioned service charges for all the work he had done. His mother thought, when did her son become so professional? It was a little depressing, and she had to teach her son a lesson.
The Mother Taught a Lesson
Her mother attached another note to her son’s note. It mentioned:
Carrying you in my belly for nine months – no charge
Taking care when you are sick – no charge
Soothing you when you are scared or annoyed – no charge
Praying for your health and happiness every day – no charge

She handed the note to her son. Ron realised what a mistake he had made. He apologised to his mother immediately and hugged her tightly.
